Glaucoma Exam
30 MINUTES $
Glaucoma is a disease that causes vision loss because of damage to the eye nerve or optic nerve. The optic nerve helps carries signals to the brain to help you see. Unfortunately, there are no symptoms until the glaucoma is very severe. The vision loss is often a gradual loss of peripheral or side vision.
We will always assess the optic nerve during the comprehensive exam, and then we conduct a further glaucoma exam if we notice that the optic nerve looks suspicious for glaucoma. This glaucoma exam consists of:
Eye Pressure
Visual Field
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Other indicators for a glaucoma exam are:
Family history of glaucoma
Long-term Steroid Use
High Myopia
Diabetic Eye Exam

Diabetes affects your entire body, including your eyes. Diabetes can cause bleeding and leakage at the back of the eye, that can result in deterioration of vision and in severe cases cause irreversible blindness.
It is highly recommended to have annual dilated diabetes exams to check for bleeding. We need to use the special drops to fully dilate the pupil (window to the back of the eye) to thoroughly check for any signs of bleeding. Early signs of bleeding can occur without any symptoms, hence early detection is vital to prevent blindness from diabetes.
